Mary C. Topp, age 87, of Carrington, died Sunday, at Golden Acres Manor with family members by her side.

Mary Catherine Meier was born on July 4, 1937, to David and Rose (Schaack) Meier.

She graduated from Grace City High School. Mary married her high school sweetheart, Royce A. Topp, on Oct. 9, 1955. They lived on the family farm until they moved to Carrington in 2005.

Mary and Royce enjoyed hosting card parties and square dancing. She enjoyed playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins, and watching her grandkids and great-grandkids’ many activities. Mary was known for her carmel rolls, homemade buns, and turtle cookies.

Mary was a valued member of the community. Mary was involved as a member of the Grace City United Methodist church, including serving as the Sunday School superintendent for a time.

She was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington and volunteered to help with sending out the newsletters.

She served on the Senior Citizen Board and was an enthusiastic member of the Carrington Lions Club.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Candice (Reggie) Grinde, Richville, Minn. Marsha (Larry) Scanson, Grace City. Jackie (Jerry) Rausch, Eden Prairie, Minn. Brenda (Jim) Lepinski, Riverview, Fla. Cara (Greg) Olson, Minot. Paula (John) Peterson, Portland. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Royce, her parents, brothers Bill and John, sister Doris, grandson Chad, and numerous in-laws.

Mary’s visitation will be Wednesday at 6:30-7:30 P.M. followed by a prayer service at 7:30 P.M., all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday,, at 2 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington. Her Burial will be at the Grace City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Grace City Cemetery Association and Carrington Lions Club.
