It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Loomis Allen on June 13, 2025, Baptist Health & Rehab in Bismarck, ND. Her life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and generosity. Judith Anne was born May 8, 1936, to Rev. Gordon & Mae (Brandes) Loomis in Belfast, NY. Judi’s presence brought light and laughter to countless lives, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished forever.
Judi was united with her soulmate Richard Allen June 21, 1958, in Hornell, NY. Throughout their life, they held an unshakable belief in the importance of faith, family & community. They were a pillar of support for so many, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer wise counsel, or simply share a warm smile. Judi and Rich served on the Minot Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassadors together, welcoming new businesses to the Minot area. Judi volunteered at the local food pantry for many years and could be found at the local UCC church offering assistance in many ways.
Judi graduated from Alfred University, NY. She worked as a 12th grade English teacher in Painted Post, NY, and a 4th-12th grade teacher at Deer Creek School in Glendive, MT. They moved to Minot, ND, in 1985, where Judi was the Director of the Minot Art Gallery. In 1991 Rich and Judi purchased Personnel Services in Minot and later started Profiles of the Northern Plains, a human resource consulting firm.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, painting, decorating, baking, sewing, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Judi delighted in playing with her grandsons and walking with her dog Spike.
Her loving family includes her son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Tracey Allen, Bismarck; her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bill Folven, Bismarck; grandchildren, Alex (Grecia )Allen, Bismarck, Forrest (Kayla) Allen, Denver; Jake Folven, Lakota; Jenni Folven, Minot; Joe (Laura) Folven, East Brunswick, NJ; Jaci (Chris), Baldridge Temple, TX; great-grandchildren, Sianna, Oliver, Adelyn, Ella, Olive, Rosie, Raelee, Violet, Elowyn and Danica; her brother Roger (Julie) Loomis, Canadaigua, NY, sister-in-law Suzanne (Mike) Palmesano, Hornell, NY and Cindy Booth, Canisteo, NY.
Judi was preceded in death by her spouse Rich (2007), her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hugh and Sara Allen; brother-in-law, James Booth; nephews Jamie Booth and Mick Palmesano.
Their absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, yet their memory will continue to guide and inspire us. They have left behind a treasured trove of stories, laughter, and wisdom — gifts that we will carry forward as we honor their life.
A celebration of her life and legacy will take place at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at 11 a.m., with a visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance, sharing memories and expressing gratitude for the profound impact they had on us all. Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

May they rest in peace, knowing their love and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
