Sharon Kimball

June 11, 1931-Nov. 8, 2024

Minot

Our loving mother, Sharon Marlene (Langseth) Kimball, 93, has received her reward for being a faithful Christian and devoted mother and has moved on to heaven on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Sharon Marlene Langseth was born June 11, 1931, the daughter of Deodar and Selma (Ronshaugen) Langseth, in Minot, ND. She was the oldest of 12 children. She had a wonderful childhood right out of the pages of “Little House on the (South) Prairie.” With many adventures from horse drawn sleighs to getting electricity. She remembered listening to the radio surrounded by her family and riding in their first Model T.

She had many careers, she always said life is too long to just do one thing. Although she earned a teaching degree, she went to work at the library after her dad passed as it paid better. She supplemented her mom’s income to support her family. She was proud to help.

After marrying Donald Kimball, she ventured into motherhood, giving birth to her “favorite” 7 people in the world. After 25 years they divorced. Divorce made her a great example of how to lead your life. She didn’t complain or speak ill of her past; she became an even better mother and friend. She taught us to believe in yourself. Encouraging us all to try. She sewed our clothing, watched our sports, volunteered at the school, endured endless band and choir concerts and managed to provide a stable home and work a full-time job. To name a few Samuelson’s Shoe Store, JCP, Medical Arts Eyewear and Beck’s Market.

She was a gifted artist drawing and painting and sharing her talent. She would sit and draw her children and grandchildren as they played. She loved her garden, and we all looked forward to the “Garden tour” on our visits. She was an avid baker. Her cinnamon and caramel rolls plus cookies were her signature items. She was the baker for Big D’s Café and people lined up every day at times around the block for tasty bakes. Later for her baking she was dubbed “Cookie” Gramma. A title she wore with pride. Every birthday we were gifted with our favorite cookies.

She was a faithful member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church and looked forward to worship and McDonald’s afterwards. She loved Young and the Restless and laughed when her kids “accidentally on purpose” called during Y&R.

She loved to travel to her out-of-state kids’ homes. Loving them and baking cookies with them. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never forgot them or their big events.

We asked our mom how she wanted to be remembered; she wanted to be known as a good person.

Well done, Mom, well done!

Survived by children, Dianne (Tracy Petersen) Wolf, Leavenworth KS, Shelley Perlichek, Lewistown MT, Dana Kimball, Minot ND, Jay (Jamie) Kimball, North Liberty, IA, Lisa (Jason) Wall, Plaza ND, Patti (Dean) Rylander, Sawyer, ND, Michelle Kimball, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Josh Wolf, Melissa (Rob) Hunter, Ben Petersen, Katie (Tony) Reed, Jordan, Patrick and Paxton Perlichek, Kyle and Adam Vogel, Stuart (Ashley) Kimball, Jessalyn (Tom)

Finch, Jeni (Jacob) Kempf, Barry (fiancé Kelsey Tofteland) Haugen, Morgan Wall, Jacob Rylander, Molly (Dylan Wilcox fiancé) Rylander, and Martin Kimball; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (Jack) LaDoucer and Dottie (Rick) Voight; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Sandy Kimball; daughter-in-law, Lisa Kimball; and numerous brothers, sisters, and relatives.

We would like to thank Souris Valley Care Center Velva for the wonderful care of our mother. Every staff member treated her with respect and always made her feel seen. She called this place home. So, we consider you part of our family. God Bless all of you.

Thank you to all of you who never forgot her. She appreciated the cards and the visits. Please honor her memory. She was a great example of how to be a good person. She practiced kindness, graciousness and most of all forgiveness.

Remember to eat lots of cookies and drink a lot of coffee. Cookie Gramma would approve!

Love her 7 Favorite children.
