Elizabeth “Liz” Humphreys, 81, Minot, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at a Minot hospital.
Liz was born on April 25, 1942 in Minot to Jesse and Gertrude (Frost) Korgel. She was raised on the family farm in Eureka Township. On November 4, 1963, Liz was united in marriage to Glen Humphreys in Minot. The couple moved around America for his work as a seismographer. They would move back to Minot in 1973. Liz worked at Ben Franklin, Kmart, Donut Hole and Miracle Mart (now Marketplace) before retiring in 2019. She would also help out at the KC Club from time to time.
Liz was a simple lady who loved her car and her license plate, “Plain Jane”. She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stiching, and embroidery. Liz was a fan of game shows like Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right, and baseball, with the Atlanta Braves being her favorite team until they stopped being played on TBS and she became a Twins fan. Recently, she had started watching football, rooting for the Chiefs, Packers, and Vikings. Liz loved to play card games, Yahtzee, and puzzles and her homemade tacos will be greatly missed by her family. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching hummingbirds.
Liz is survived by her sons, Dalen Humphreys, Surrey, and Jeffrey Humphreys, Minot; daughters, Michelle (Arn) Aga and Donnell (Mike) Sowitch, both of Minot; grandchildren, Kyle, Heidi, Josh, Andy, RaegAnn, and Chris; great-grandchildren, Lillyann, Hunter, Remi, Ryker, Asher, Soren, and Freya; sister, Ardith “Ardy” Fitzgerald; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Marie Vollmer, Robert Korgel, and Joyce Anderson; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot. The service will be livestreamed for the public to view and can be accessed by going to the Thompson-Larson Funeral home website: www.thompsonlarson.com. Burial will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 14 from 4-6 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot.
