Virginia Leidholt
Jan. 23, 1939 – Feb. 18, 2023
Minot
Virginia Ann Leidholt, 84, Minot, ND, passed away, February 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family as she prepared to be reunited with the love of her life, our father Bert.
Virginia was born in Bowdle, South Dakota to Mathew and Mathilda (Gerber) Bachman. She graduated from Bowdle High School and continued her education at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
On June 3, 1957, Virginia was joined in marriage to Bert Leidholt at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Bowdle, South Dakota. God blessed their marriage with two daughters and two sons. Dave, Kay, Michelle and Dan. After a short stop in Lemmon, SD, they followed Bert’s coaching career to Minot, where they’ve made their home ever since. After her children were in school, Virginia worked for a time as an aide at Roosevelt School and eventually retired after many years as a secretary at Minot Public Schools and Souris Valley Special Services.
In their retirements, Virginia and Bert traveled to Alaska, Nashville, and football games in Wisconsin. They loved to fish and spent time on their deck visiting and entertaining family and friends. She loved the time she spent with her Homemakers group and her stewardship at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
Virginia’s greatest loves in her life were family, faith, friendships and football. She will always be remembered for her compassion, beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She loved to visit with her friends and with those that needed company. Some of her happiest moments were at sporting events cheering on her husband, children and grandchildren.
We would like to thank the many wonderful people at Somerset Court, Maple View Memory Care, Edgewood Vista, Caring-Edge Hospice, and her faithful friends for their caring and kindness in Virginia’s final years.
Virginia is survived by her children, Dave (Jeanie) Leidholt, Missoula, MT, Kay (Brent) Molnar, Regina, SK, Michelle (John) Hennessy, Cheney, WA, and Dan (Maria) Leidholt, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Isaak Leidholt, Derek (Kristen) Molnar, Rachel (Matt Verlysdonk) Molnar, Hailey (Boone) Plager, Logan Hennessy, Cole Leidholt, Laurin Leidholt and Tatum Leidholt; great-grandchildren, Jett, Benjamin, Jackson, Blaise, Bodie, and Brynn; brother, Paul (Patty) Bachman; sister-in-law, Deloris Bachman; special mention sisters-in-law, Janice Bergeson and Corinne Leidholt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
