Gayle Williams

Sept. 7, 1935 – Jan. 23, 2023
Mohall
Gayle Yvonne Williams, 87, Mohall, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at her home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Sherwood, to Wilfred and Mabel (Ennis) Perron. Gayle was the youngest of three children. She was raised in Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1953; she was a Sherwood Wild Cat cheerleader.
Gayle married the love of her life, George L. Williams, at St. James Catholic Church, Sherwood, when he returned from the Korean Conflict. George joined the U.S. Border Patrol and they moved to California. Worldly ways brought her home to North Dakota and she settled in Mohall to raise her family.
Gayle worked as a lab technician at the Mohall hospital, worked at the dry cleaners, The Improvement, she even painted houses, was a qualified service provider for home health, and worked at the Mohall American Legion Club “The Club” from 1968 to 1986. She also cleaned the St. Jerome Catholic Church rectory.
She moved to Minot and worked at the Minot American Legion and also managed a 33-unit apartment complex.
In 1990, she returned to Mohall and resumed working at The Club as a dining room waitress, retiring in 2003. Gayle continued to work as a qualified service provider for home health. She loved people and her clients like they were family.
Gayle often found her calling in life in the service to others. She cared for her mother, Mabel, until her death in 2013, and her aunt, Maxine Perron, until her death in 2018. When Gayle was in good health, you could frequently find her at the Good Samaritan sipping coffee with the residents.
To her children and many grandchildren, Gayle’s home was often the place to congregate. Her sunny back yard and quiet kitchen were both frequent staging areas for family gatherings, coffee breaks and barbeques as long as you weren’t disturbing her mid-day nap. Gayle always had a pot of coffee, and a cup ready, for any guest who happened to stop by.
Gayle had a green thumb, raising a lovely garden of poppies, roses, morning glories, fern peonies and Aloe Vera plants.
