Laveda Johnson

Laveda Johnson, 75,

Minot, peacefully passed

away on Monday, July 18,

2022, in her home.

Laveda was born on

November 8, 1946, to

Bloyd and Naomi

(Edwardson) Johnson in

Minot. She was raised and

educated in Minot.

On July 17, 1964,

Laveda was united in

marriage to George

Mentis, and during their

16-year marriage, they

had three beautiful chil-

dren, LaSonja “Sonja”

Christine, Samantha Rai-

na, and Georgie Marie.

Laveda attended Minot

High School, where she

graduated. Laveda also at-

tended Manicurist school

and received her Manicu-

rist license in 1984.

After graduation,

Laveda raised her three

daughters and worked at

the Harley Davidson shop

with her husband. She

then attended manicure

school, working in the art

for over 20 years.

Laveda enjoyed reading,

watching Netflix, travel-

ing to California to visit

her daughters and grand-

daughter, and enjoyed go-

ing for rides on Harley Da-

vidson motorcycles. She

also enjoyed watching

NFL and NASCAR, and

cheering on her favorite

picks. In her early years,

Laveda showed and bred

Siberian Huskies during

her marriage to George.

Laveda is survived by

her three daughters,

LaSonja “Sonja” Mentis,

Samantha Jones-Jawitz,

and Georgie Mentis;

Grandchildren, Keaton,

Landon and Kennedy

Mentis, Dakota Jones, and

Cheyenne “Dolly” Mentis;

great-grandchildren,

Harper, Beckham, Lin-

coln, and McKenna; sis-

ters, Penny Johnson,

Minot, ND and Delpha

Harper, Chandler, AZ;

brothers, Wade (Jackie)

Johnson, Surrey and Dar-

cy (Julie) Johnson, Minot;

and numerous nieces,

nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in

death by her parents; sis-

ter, Flavia Johnson; infant

sister, Darla Johnson;

nephew, Travis Ott;

brother-in-law, Clifford

“Kip” Harper; and

numerous aunts, uncles,

and cousins.

A Memorial Gathering

for friends and family will

take place Wednesday,

July 27, 2022 from 2 to 6

p.m. at The Grand Hotel

in Minot.
