Curtis Lee Thompson,
79, Carpio, died Friday,
Feb. 25, 2022, at his
home.
He was born Dec. 14,
1942, in Minot, to Russell
and Lavonne (Yale)
Thompson. He was raised
in the Carpio area and
graduated from Carpio
High School. He served
in the N.D. National
Guard from 1960 to 1966.
He was called to active
duty on Oct. 15, 1961 dur-
ing the Berlin crisis, and
was transferred back to
the Guard on Aug. 9,
1962.
Curtis married Darlene
Sandberg on March 8,
1963, in Sawyer. Curtis
worked for the N.D. State
Highway Department
from 1961 to 1967. He
worked for Northwest
Telephone Installation
Services as a central office
equipment installer from
1967 to 1970. He worked
construction with Thomp-
son Brothers Construction
from 1970 to 1978 and for
Mattson Construction
while building the MSU
Dome in 1978. In 1978,
he went to work for the
5th Civil Engineering
Squadron as a
carpenter/locksmith, retir-
ing on Jan. 3, 2003.
Curtis was a member of
Carpio Lutheran Church.

Curtis was preceded in

Russell and Lavonne
Thompson; grandson,
Richard Jager; and broth-
er, Larry Thompson.
