Marie Magdalena
Thompson, 79, passed
away Friday, Oct 15th,
2021, in Minot, North
Dakota.
Marie was born to Hul-
da (Zeller) and Herman
Hildebrand of Beulah,
North Dakota where she
was raised. She attended
Concordia College for her
Undergraduate degree and
then on to Kansas State
University where she
achieved her Masters in
Zoology. It is here that
she met the love of her
life, Michael B. Thomp-
son. They were married in
Beulah North Dakota and
soon moved to Minot
North Dakota.
Marie was a devoted
mother and raised 2 chil-
dren while spending time
on her many interests in-
cluding spending many
years as a “Rockhound”
and crafting beautiful
pieces of jewelry into
necklaces, earrings, bolos,
and belt buckles.
Marie was also an
amazingly talented seam-
stress. She selflessly
created well over 700
Huggy Bears for the local
Crises Center. She was
cited The Presidential
Honor Award for her phi-
lanthropic efforts. She
also quilted for many
years with her church,
Zion Lutheran creating
stunning and colorful pat-
terns.
Marie and Mike loved
to travel and toured the
US and Canada from the
Yukon to Prince Edward
Island and Nova Scotia.
They would venture to
Alaska, Yellowstone, The
Badlands, and The Black
Hills many times. They
toured from California to
Montana for several ski
trips to Big Sky and trav-
eled out to NY and NJ for
both children’s weddings
and several times in
between.
Marie moved out East to
NY last Oct to be closer to
her children and
grandchildren. She loved
touring around the coun-
tryside of the Adirondacks
and especially loved the
“big puffy clouds” that
reminded her so much of
her traveling days.
Marie was preceded in
death by her parents; hus-
band; brothers, Jim and
David Hildebrand;
Sisters-in-Laws, Linda
Kruse and Pat Cote.
Marie is survived by
her Son Andrew
(Danielle) Thompson, and
their two children – Hud-
son and Brecken;
Daughter Sarah (Dennis)
Clifford; Brother-In-law
Steve (Pat) Thompson;
Sister-In-Law Connie Hil-
debrand, Nephew Travis;
Sister-In-Law Bonnie,
Nieces Jessica, Ashleigh,
and Danielle;
Brother-In-Law, Gene
Cote, Nephews and
Nieces Chris, Carrie,
Casey, Craig and Court-
ney; Nieces Christy and
Tracy; Great Niece Brit-
tany; Nephew David
(Dawna) Kruse.
A celebration of
Marie’s life will take
place at a future date.
