Barbara Fredericksen

Aug. 24, 1957-Sept. 29, 2021

Barbara Fredericksen, 64, Minot, ND, formerly of Ryder, ND, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in her home.

Barbara Ann Neukom was born August 24, 1957, the daughter of Harold and Arlene (Balucki) Neukom, in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Ryder, ND, and graduated from North Shore High School in 1975.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Barb, then you knew Barb was one of the most loving people and had one of the most contagious personalities any person could ever come across. When Barb was on your side, you could rest assured knowing Barb would do everything in her power to make your tomorrow a better place.

Her love and sacrifice were most evident when it came to her grandbabies. Barb absolutely adored her mini people. She spent her evenings enthralled in facetime conversations with Sylar as he would wander her around the house showing off every toy and every animal in the house. Barb would instill confidence in her granddaughter Aradia by constantly reminding her that she is gorgeous. Barb also loved spending time with her oldest grandson, Ryker, and being able to see him enjoy his baseball events and when he would come visit! Barb never turned down an opportunity to spend time around her grandchildren. Running errands with Chelsea just to sit in the van and entertain the twins, daycare assignments while her children were working or off having fun, and just about every Sunday morning the family would meet up for Nom-Noms at Schatz Crossroads breakfast; the staff will undoubtedly miss our Sunday morning chaos!

Barb had such a strong work ethic that it really was one of her true joys in life. Helping clients at H&R Block was truly her life’s work. There was not a problem she couldn’t fix and not a tax hole too deep that Barb couldn’t help find a way out of. She was a pillar of excellence and she will be greatly missed by so many clients who have never even contemplated meeting a new tax lady for as long as they live.

Outside of work and family Barb enjoyed the small things life had to offer, and since Chelsea and her herd of munchkins kept Barb busy, it was these little things that were all she needed to round out her life. She was a lover of all of God’s creatures. Not once was a dog, cat, bird, or reptile ever turned away from our loving home. The cats and dogs never get far away from Barb’s loving touch while they kept her company watching her nightly shows and she never missed an episode of NCIS-since we all know agent Gibbs was her next ex-husband!

Barb will be missed by all! Lucky for us, Barb left enough of herself with every person she came in contact with and her memory will live on long into the future!

Barb is preceded in death by: her mother, Arlene Neukom, who taught our family the meaning of strength and love; her father, Harold Neukom, who taught our family devotion and hard work; and her younger brother, Danny Neukom, who was our family’s reminder that everything about life is special.

Barb is survived by: her three sons, Adam (Hailey Helm), Brandon, and Zachary, as well as her only daughter, and best friend in the whole world Chelsea (Stephen) Latham, and the children’s father and her first husband, Carl. Barb also leaves behind 5 beautiful grand babies, Ryker, Aradia, Sylar, and the twins, Nolan and Caden. Barb is also survived by her oldest brother, Dennis as well as her baby brothers, David and Scott.
