Oscar Harold Stehr, age
94, was reunited in
heaven with his wife
Rosanne on July 19, 2021.
Oscar was born April
17, 1927, to Gottlieb and
Dorothea Kanenwischer
Stehr on a farm in
LaMoure County, eight
miles southwest of Edge-
ley, North Dakota. Grow-
ing up, his family relocat-ed to several other farms
in the Edgeley area where
Oscar attended Wayne
Township School #3 then
Nora Township School
#2. Throughout his
youth, Oscar lived, played
and worked on farms with
horses and livestock. As a
young man, Oscar tink-
ered with equipment and
problem-solving which
prompted him to continue
his education at an auto-
motive trade school in
Fargo, North Dakota.
While completing his
schooling, Oscar worked
for Nash Finch Distribu-
tion unloading rail cars
and later for Conan Cab
Company driving cab. In
his early twenties, Oscar
returned to the Edgeley
area and worked several
years on grain and cattle
farms, then for the Edge-
ley Farmers Union. Oscar
was drafted in 1950 and
served in the US Army
549th Engineers. He was
stationed at Fort Scott,
near San Francisco, Cali-
fornia, assigned to the
survey engineering crew
and later served near
Unalakleet, Alaska, on the
transmission tower crew.
Oscar fulfilled his enlist-
ment duties in November
1952 transferring to the
Army reserves, and was
honorably discharged in
1957.
While serving in the US
Army, Oscar married
Rosanne Lenz on July 6,
1951. They started their
married life in the Edgeley
area, getting back into the
farm servicing business.
Oscar went on to manage
Farmers Union/Cenex sta-
tions in Zeeland, Wash-
burn and Mohall, North
Dakota and the Cenex
Chemical Distribution
Center in Minot North
Dakota. He retired in 1992
and continued to live in
the Minot area until his
death.
Oscar was always active
in the Cenex organization,
serving as President of the
Cenex State Managers As-
sociation and as Chairman
of the Cenex State Retired
Managers Association. Os-
car was a member of the
Moose Lodge for many
years. He and Rosanne
were members of Vincent
United Methodist Church.
Oscar and Rosanne
were married for 65 years,
until Rosanne’s death in
2016, and raised five
daughters. Oscar enjoyed
the love, energy and
spunk of his five
daughters, nine grandchil-dren and eight
great-grandchildren. Os-
car and Rosanne enjoyed
traveling to visit their
children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren
and enjoyed participating
in their daily routines. Os-
car will be remembered
for his practical direct ap-
proach and no-nonsense
maintenance tips as well
as his stories, dart throw-

bird feeders he built with
his grandkids.
