Irene Olmstead
April 23, 1921-July 31, 2021
Irene Pauline Zieman
was born April 23, 1921,

ine (Redman) Zieman.
She was raised on the
family farm until 1930
when they moved to Gol-
den Valley. She attended
country school through
the eighth grade. As a
young girl, she had
several jobs including
picking wood and corn
cobs for fires to cook with
and gathering coal for

herding and milking
cows.
In 1940, she moved to
Chewelah, Washington
where she met Harold

Harold and Irene returned
to a farm north of
Parshall, North Dakota
where they raised their
family and farmed.
Harold passed away in
1988 and Irene moved
into Parshall in 1990. In
2013, Irene moved to
Minot and made her home
at Somerset Court.
Irene was a kind,
hard-working woman. She
enjoyed farm work and
gardening and was always
thankful for their harvest
and produce. Her enter-
tainment included read-
ing, playing cards, and
visiting with friends. She
was a member of the
Parshall Golden Jet Set,
the German Lutheran
Church and later of First
Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Parshall. She
served as treasurer of
Wayzetta Township for
many years.
Irene’s life was blessed
with a loving family, good
