Marcella Johnson
Sept. 18, 1945-March 9, 2021
Marcella “Sallie” John-
son, 75, Minot, (formerly
of Des Lacs), passed away
peacefully on Tuesday,
March 9, 2021, at her
daughter’s home in
Spokane, WA surrounded
by her children.
Sallie was born Sep-
tember 18, 1945, in Minot
to Herbert “Herb” and
Emma (Asmundson)
Schultz. She was raised
and educated in Berthold.
Sallie graduated from
Berthold High School in
1963.
Sallie was joined in
marriage to Dennis “Mike”
Brayson on May 29, 1965.
They made their home in
Hawthorne, NV. Tragical-ly, Sallie was widowed on
September 30, 1966.
Shortly after, she gave
birth to their daughter
Tandi, and they moved
back to Berthold where
she attended JAHR’s
Beauty School and at-
tained her cosmetology
license.
On September 6, 1969,
Sallie married Richard
“Dick” Johnson. Sallie and
Dick had 2 children of
their own and raised all 3
kids in Des Lacs. She kept
an immaculate home,
yard, and garden (even
won yard of the year
when that was still a
thing). In 1994, they
moved to Minot. Sallie
worked as a hairdresser
for several years, finishing
her career at Shear Magic
working with her very
dear friend Darla Jost. Sal-
lie was best known for her
painting and cleaning; she
had a tremendous work
ethic and was one of the
hardest working people
around. She owned and
operated S&K
Painting/Cleaning and
worked primarily with
IPM until she retired in
2015.
Sallie attended Our Sa-
vior Lutheran Church,
Minot. She bowled on a
lady’s league at North Hill
Bowl for several years.
She enjoyed visiting her
children in Spokane, trav-
eling with her family,
lunch with friends, and
getting together with her
sisters and family. Sallie
loved spending time in
the sun and ‘puttering’
around her yard tending
to her flowers during the
summer. She also enjoyed
shopping and finding a
good ‘gunga’! She never
said no to a quick trip to
the casino and always en-
joyed laughing and visit-
ing with family and
friends!
Sallie was known for
her generosity and hospi-
tality and of course, that
beautiful smile. Everyone
that knew Sallie would
agree she was a fancy
lady!
Thank you to all our
family and friends who
have held us up in prayer
and showered us with
love during this exceed-
ingly difficult time.
