Joseph Patterson, 79,
Minot, ND, passed away
Friday, April 2, 2021, in
his home.
Joseph George Patterson
was born March 9, 1942,
the son of Joseph and
Clara (Mock) Patterson, in
Minot, ND. He was bap-
tized at St. Leo’s Catholic
Church in Minot and
raised and educated in
Minot. Joe worked various
jobs before beginning his
employment at Sweet-
heart Bakery in 1962.
Joe enlisted in the Unit-
ed States Army February
16, 1967. He served his
country during the Viet-
nam War and was honor-
ably discharged January
27, 1969.
Following his honorable
discharge, he continued
his job at Sweetheart Bak-
ery in Minot and worked
there until it closed in
1998. He then worked for
the Minot Park District in
the summers and also
delivered parts for
Hedahl’s Parts Plus until
2010, when his health
failed.
Joe married Gail Jean
Ike August 9, 1970, at
First Lutheran Church in
Wabek, ND. They made
their home in Minot,
where they raised their
daughters. Gail passed
away September 26, 2017.
He was a member of St.
Mark’s Lutheran Church
in Minot and the Team-
sters Union Local 123.
He enjoyed spending
time with his family. He
enjoyed camping and fish-
ing. He especially enjoyed
his time at Medora and
the Badlands with family
members. He cherished
time with his grandkids.
The highlight of Joe’s day
was truly anything that
had to do with his
grandchildren whether it
was attending or watching
virtually their athletics,
visiting with them, receiv-ing their artwork or being
read to, up until the very
last day.
His loving family in-
cludes: children, Holly
(Ryan) Dewitz, Minot, and
Kristi (Jason) Reinke,
Minot; six grandchildren,
Kaedin, Kennady and Kali
Dewitz; and Jaxon, Keaton
and Hatti Reinke;
mother-in-law, Mabel Ike,
Minot; sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Sandra
(Verle) Anderson, Minot,
and Wendy (Lydell)
Wohlk, Ryder; and Robert
Boschert, Minot; and
several nieces and
nephews.
Joe was preceded in
death by: his parents;
wife of 47 years, Gail;
father-in-law, Lloyd Ike;
brothers, Henry (Linda)
Patterson and LaVerne
Patterson; sister, Gloria
Boschert; and
brother-in-law, Wayne
Rouse.
Funeral: Friday, April
9, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at
St. Mark’s Lutheran
Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: Thursday
from 5 to 7 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
Family Prayer Service:
Thursday at 7 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
