Annie Burckhard

June 5, 1926-Jan. 23, 2021

Annie Burckhard, the

daughter of Joseph and

Margaret (Goetz) Jundt

was born on June 5, 1926

at the Good Samaritan

Hospital in Rugby, North

Dakota. She died at the

age of 94 years on Satur-

day, January 23, 2021 at

the Heart of America Care

Center in Rugby, North

Dakota.

Annie was a twin and

was raised on a farm

southeast of Berwick and

received her education at

a country school across

the fields from her home.

She graduated from the

8th grade at that country

school.

On October 2, 1944, she

was united in marriage to

John P. Burckhard at St.

Anselm’s Catholic Church

in Fulda, North Dakota.

Following their marriage,

they lived a short time in

Towner before moving to

the Burckhard family

farm, which was across

the field from where she

was born. They raised

their family on that family

farm and raised small

grains and had a dairy

herd. Annie helped milk

the cows and helped in

the hay fields in the sum-

mer, along John’s side,

while being a loving

mother, managing a

household of 9 children

and also raised a big gar-

den.

In 1987, the couple re-

tired and moved to Rugby.

In January of 2006, they

moved to an apartment in

Minot. John died in 2008.

Annie moved to Elmcroft

Assisted Living Center in

Minot in November of

2019 and on December

28, 2020, she moved to

the Heart of America Care

Center in Rugby and

resided there until her

death.

She was a member of

the Christian Mothers,

Catholic Order of Fores-

ters, Fulda St. Anselm’s

Church choir and sang

with a group that sang in

German for functions

around the area and state.

She was also a member of

the Little Flower Catholic

Church in Rugby and Our

Lady of Grace Catholic

Church in Minot. She en-

joyed gardening, sewing,

reading, baking and cook-

ing, putting puzzles to-

gether and playing soft-

ball. She was proud to

raise her nine children

and enjoyed spending

time with them and her

grandchildren and great

grandchildren. She will

be greatly missed.

(Stacie) of Minot; 29

grandchildren; 37

great-grandchildren; one

dren; twin sister, Julia

Brossart of Grand Forks;

sister-in-law, Bernadine

Jundt of Fargo;

brother-in-law, Frank

Keller of Rugby; many

nieces, nephews; other re-

latives and friends.

She was preceded in

death by: her husband; an

infant daughter, Gloria

Ann; infant

great-grandchildren, twins

Wyatt and Audra Johnson

and twins, Winston and

Annie Hall; brothers,

Aloise, Kasmer, Anton,

Mike, Ed and Valentine

Jundt; sisters, Elizabeth,

Hilda and Rose; an infant

half-brother, Joe Jundt;

many brothers and

sisters-in-law and her

parents.

Mass of Christian buri-

al will be held at 11:00

a.m. Saturday, January 30

at Little Flower Catholic

Church in Rugby with

burial in the church

cemetery.

Visitation will be from

5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on

Friday with a rosary and

vigil prayer service begin-

ning at 7:00 p.m. at the

Anderson Funeral Home

in Rugby. Visitation will

continue on Saturday

from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at

the funeral home. There

will be no reviewal at the

church.
