Joann Metzgar
Joann Metzgar, age 72,
of Bottineau, died Thurs-
day, September 10, 2020
at St. Andrew’s Hospital.
A memorial service will
be held on Friday, Sep-
tember 25, 2020 at 2:00
p.m. at the Nero Funeral
Home in Bottineau.
Joann Marilyn Metzgar,
daughter of Harold and
Edith (Lunde) Melgaard,
was born in December of
1947 in Bottineau. She
was raised in Bottineau
and graduated from Bot-
tineau High School in
1965. On August 21, 1965,
she married Gerald
Metzgar in Bottineau.
They made their home in
Virginia and later moved
to Colorado. They re-
turned to Bottineau in
1982 and purchased the
Westerner Bar. She later
worked at the Farm Credit
Services in Bottineau.
Joann retired in 2014
where she and Jerry con-
tinued to make Bottineau
their home.
Joann was a member of
the First Lutheran Church
in Bottineau. She enjoyed
golfing, watching the
Broncos and the Twins,
horse racing and was an
avid reader. She also en-
joyed traveling all over
the US, Canada and Eu-
rope.
She is survived by: her
husband, Gerald of Bot-
tineau; son, Michael (De
Ann) Metzgar of Parker,
CO; granddaughter, Bri-
ane Swinnerton of Las Ve-
gas, NV; Matt Bingaman
of Parker, CO; Michelle
Bingaman-Clark (Todd) of
Aurora, CO;
great-grandchildren; one
brother, David Melgaard
(Beverly) of Audubon,
MN and several uncles,
aunts, nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
Joann was preceded in
death by: her parents, her
brother Arlin, and
sister-in-law Wanda.
Nero Funeral Home will
be taking care of the ar-
rangements.
The Memorial Service
will be streamed live.
