Barbara Wenger

Barbara E. Wenger, 86,
Minot, formerly of Max,
ND, passed away on Mon-
day, June 22, 2020 in her
home with her family at
her side.
Barbara Elaine Mickel-
son was born on February
9, 1934, a daughter of
Joseph P. and Therisa B.
(Franklin) Mickelson near
Garrison, ND. She attend
ed elementary school in
Garrison, Minot, and six
years at Rural Willis
Township country school.
She graduated from Minot
High School in 1952.
Barbara furthered her
education by attending
Minot State Teachers Col-
lege, where she majored
in Elementary Education
and Special Education,
with a minor in Home
Economics.
On June 14, 1959, Bar-
bara was united in mar-
riage to Vernon L. Wenger
of Max, ND. They made
their home on the Wenger
family farm, where togeth
er they farmed, raised
their family and Barbara
was also a teacher. She
taught at Max Public
School, South Prairie
School, Minot Public
Schools and again at Max,
retiring following 34 years
of dedicated service.
Barbara was an avid
reader. There wasn’t a to-
pic or book that she didn’t
like to read about. She
also loved to keep up on
local, state, and national
news. She watched every
news program she could
and enjoyed talking about
current events. Barbara
was a lifelong learner and
enjoyed challenging and
educating herself.
Barbara was a member
of the Faith United
Methodist Church, form-
erly Evangelical United
Brethren, from the 1950’s
until 2012, when she be-
came a member of Vin-
cent United Methodist
Church. Her faith and her
family were very impor-
tant to her, and some of
her fondest memories
were celebrating the holi-
days and watching the
grandchildren’s gradua-
tion ceremonies.
Barbara is survived
by: Husband of 61 years,
Vernon, Minot; three
sons: Keith (Tracy) V.
Wenger, Max, ND; Dr.
Barry J. Wenger (Steven
Hoover), Beach Park, IL,
and Kevin (Karyn) L.
Wenger, Granville,
ND; Ten Grandchildren:
Kristyn (Jared) McIntosh,
Kristyl (Jason) Blowers,
Kalsey (Trevor) Kronberg,
Dana (Kyle) Lizzotte, Dar-
cie (Ryan Studaker) New-
gard, Shalynn Wenger,
Kaitlan Wenger, Kylei
Wenger; Rose Wenger and
Josie Wenger; 16
great-grandchildren:
Tyler, Austin and Devon
Blowers, Anthony and
Camden McIntosh, Kottyn
and Hardy Kronberg,
MaHalle, Elijah and
McKenna Lizzotte,
Paislee, Ryland, Amelia
Newgard, and Sawyer
Studaker, Avery Jo,
Aryiah L and Payton
Wenger, Ayden
McCloud; Siblings: Betty
Erickson, Minot, Shirley
(Peter) Dassenko, Minot,
Gloria Endsley,
Brother-in-law Norman
Bjelland, Kalispell, MT,
and Sister-in-law Dolly
Mickelson, Minot; several
nieces, nephews and
cousins also survive.
Barbara was preceded
in death by: her parents,
sisters Marlene Mickel-
son, Jolene Bjelland, and
brother Jerome Mickelson.

26, 2020 at 10:30 am at
Vincent United Methodist
Church, Minot. The wear-
ing of mask is strongly en-
couraged.
