Cathryn Boger
Nov. 16, 1936-March 10, 2020
“To Live is Christ; to
die is gain.” Cathryn
(Vedo) Boger entered the
Church Triumphant on
Tuesday March 10, 2020
at Trinity Hospital, Minot,
ND.
Despite her many phy-
sical challenges, she kept
the Faith, expressing her
anticipation of heaven
and healing.
Cathryn Joanne was
born November 16, 1936,
in Garrison, ND, to Ole
and Gertrude (Kalvik)
Vedo. Cathryn grew up on
the family farm in Mal-
colm Township, ND, at-
tending country school
and graduating from
Garrison High School in
1954. She never forgot
her classmates.
Cathryn’s first job was
with John Bauer at
Farmer’s Union Insurance
in Garrison. She later
worked for the ASC of-
fices in Garrison and
Stanley, ND. Employment
at the Stanley Library
brought her much joy.
She loved books, especial-ly non-fiction accounts
about Norwegian immi-
grants. Cathryn was an
avid genealogist, keeping
alive the memories of her
Norwegian ancestors, and
keeping contact with
cousins in Norway. In
1977, Cathryn visited her
father’s birthplace in Nor-
way and saw her mother’s
ancestral homes. Cathryn
was gifted with the ability
to play piano and accor-
dion by ear. She was
taught to chord by her fa-
ther. She accompanied
family and local musi-
cians. She grieved the loss
of her ability to play piano
after her stroke. Cathryn’s
life of Faith was displayed
in her prayer and devo-
tional life and Bible study
at home and worship at
her church, Our Savior’s
Lutheran, Stanley, ND.
On Saturday, March 14,
at 2 p.m. Cathryn’s fun-
eral and burial will be at
St. Olaf Lutheran Church,
rural Turtle Lake, ND,
where she was baptized,
confirmed, and married
Leo Boger on Sep-
tember19, 1954. Cathryn
and Leo lived in Garrison,
until moving to Stanley in
1963. Cathryn has resided
at Trinity Nursing Home
in Minot for 3 years, pre-
