Bret Schonauer, 60,

Velva, ND, passed away

on Friday, March 20,

2020, in his home.

Bret was born on Oc-

tober 6, 1959, a son of

Gordon and Joanne

(Grotjohn) Schonauer. He

was raised and educated

in Hampden, ND, until

moving to Velva in 1972.

Bret married in 1977,

and a daughter, Jennifer,

was born from this union.

On March 20, 1992, Bret

was united in marriage to

Kathy Meissel, gaining a

daughter Amber and a son

TJ.

They made their home

in Velva, where Bret

served area farmers with

his business, Dakota Seed

Cleaning.

He enjoyed mechanics,

becoming a corvette spe-

cialist. He was a welder

by trade and always en-

joyed farming, helping his

brother and friends each

year putting the crop in

and taking it off. He

loved the freedom of the

road as was an avid

motorcycle enthusiast,

spending endless hours

traveling the US on his

Harley-Davidson motorcy-cle. He was a loyal hus-

band, father, grandfather

and friend.

He is survived by:

Wife of 27 years, Kathy;

Children, Jennifer (Rich-

ard) Napora of Minot,

Amber (Luke) Shattuck of

Velva, TJ Dodson of

Minot; Grandchildren,

Brittany, Dawn, Shaelyn,

Josh, Noah, Jace; Four

Great-Grandchildren;

Brothers, Greg (Kris)

Schonauer of Fergus Falls,

Scott (Janie) Schonauer of

Garrison; Sister, Kim

Schonauer of Great Falls,

MT; numerous aunts, un-

cles, nieces, nephews and

cousins also survive.

Bret was preceded in

death by his parents.
