Arthur Rentschler

Arthur Rentschler, 74,

of Mandan, N.D., passed

away Sept. 15 after a short

illness.

Art was born July 7,

1945 to Carl and Irene

(Wright) Rentschler in

Minot, N.D. He attended

school in Minot and

joined the Navy in 1963.

After initial training he

was stationed aboard the

aircraft carrier Shangri-La.

In 4 years of service he

spent 3 yrs. and 8 months

at sea. He was Honorably

Discharged in 1967. In

1969 he started working

for Burlington Northern

Railroad as a Carman Ap-

prentice and completed

the program in 1973. He

moved west to Seattle and

married Linda White

(Bjone) in 1974. They

moved to Lynnwood and

divorced in 1991. In 2004

he retired from the rail-

road as a Carman and

moved back to the

Midwest. Soon after, he

bought a camper and

went south in the fall and

north in the spring, travel-

ling all over the South

and Midwest. He quit

travelling the road in 2017

moved to Brookings, SD

and then Mandan in 2018.

He was preceded in

death by: his parents, and

his sister Claudia and

brother-in-law Duane Lar-

son.

He is survived by: his

sons Dirk White of

Everett, WA, Gil White of

Grand Island, NE, and

Leon White of Scottsbluff,

NE; grandchildren, Cyd-

ney, Lane, Lawrence, and

Kherington; and sister

Vera Nordstrom.
