Wilfred “Will” Dahly,
92, Minot, ND, passed
away Sunday, July 9,
2017, in a Minot hospital.
Wilfred Leroy Dahly
was born December 6,
1924, the son of Gorman
and Idelia (Stammen)
Dahly, in Foxholm, ND.
He was raised and educat-ed in Foxholm through
the 6th grade, then the
family moved to Burling-
ton, ND for one year be-
fore settling in Minot in
1938. Will attended Minot
Model High School,
where he graduated in
1942.
Following graduation,
Will worked odd jobs, in-
cluding being a fireman.
He then enlisted in the
United States Army in
1943. He proudly served
his country during WWII
with the 13th Airborne
Division during the Euro-
pean Theater of Opera-
tions. He was honorably
discharged in January of
1946.
Following his service,
Will lived in Chicago, IL
for a time, then returned
to Minot on January 2,
1950 to begin work for the
Veterans Administration
Hospital in the Supply
Division.
Will married Geraldine
Volk from Harvey, ND on
October 9, 1950 at St.
Cecilia’s Catholic Church
in Harvey. They made
their home in Minot.
On July 1, 1959 the US
Air Force took over the
Veterans Hospital and
Will transferred to their
Medical Supply Division
as the Medical Equipment
Management Officer. He
retired on July 1, 1982,
with 35 years of govern-
ment service.
Geraldine passed away
March 31, 2012.
Will was a charter
member of St. John the
Apostle Catholic Church
of Minot. He was also a
member of the VFW Club,
the American Legion and
the Knights of Columbus.
Will loved to hunt, fish
and camp. Will and Geral-
dine remodeled an old
school bus into a camper,
in which the couple en-
joyed many happy years
of camping. Will also en-
joyed walking in the mall,
and for a number of years
he had coffee almost
every day with his coffee
buddies.

Warren) Greenwell, Gil-
bert, AZ and Rick (Ruth)
Dahly, Bismarck;
grandchildren, Stuart
(Mary) Greenwell, Gilbert,
AZ, Rita Greenwell, Flag-
staff, AZ, Scott Dahly, St.
Cloud, MN, Matthew Dah-
ly, Minneapolis, MN and
Katie Dahly, Bismarck;
great-grandchildren,
Wyatt, Carson and Harris-on Greenwell, all of Gil-
bert, AZ; half-sister, Bev-
erly (John) Krznarich, MI;
brothers and
sisters-in-law, Don Volk,
Robert (Glorianne) Volk,
JoAnna Dahly and Deb
Volk; and numerous
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Will was preceded in
death by: his parents;
wife Geraldine Dahly,
brothers, Donovan (Mari-
an) Dahly and Orville
Dahly; and his
brother-in-law, Gary Volk.
Mass of Christian Buri-
al: Friday, July 14, 2017,
at 11:00 a.m. at St. John
the Apostle Catholic
Church, Minot, ND.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: Thursday
from 5 to 7 p.m., followed
by Recitation of the Holy
Rosary and a Vigil Prayer
Service at 7 p.m., all at
the church.
