Dennis Gerald Leier, 72,

of Esmond, ND, passed

away at the Park View

Health Center in Aneta,

ND on Thursday, July 27,

2017.

A Mass of Christian

Burial will be held at

11:00 AM Wednesday,

August 2, 2017 at the St.

Boniface Catholic Church

in Esmond, ND with Fr.

Brian Bachmeier celebrat-ing the mass.

Visitation will be held

Tuesday, August 1, 2017

at the St. Boniface Cathol-

ic Church from 5:00 PM

to 7:00 PM with a Rosary

starting at 7:00 PM and

Vigil Service beginning at

7:30 PM. Visitation will

continue one hour prior to

the service Wednesday at

the church.

Burial will take place at

the St. Boniface Catholic

Cemetery in Esmond, ND.

Dennis Gerald Leier

was born on February 14,

1945 to Rochus and Helen

(Becker) Leier in Mad-

dock, ND. He grew up on

a farm in Rich Valley

Township and attended

country school until the

8th grade. Dennis attend-

ed high school in Es-

mond, ND, graduating

with the class of 1963.

Dennis married the love

of his life, Sylvia Ann

Thompson, on February

15, 1964 at the St. Boni-

face Catholic Church in

Esmond. The couple set-

tled in Esmond where

they raised three

daughters: Stacy, Sonya

and Shanda.

Dennis worked many

construction jobs while

living in Esmond. He

worked for Lunde Con-

struction and Albrecht

Construction before start-

ing B&L Construction

with his brother-in-law. In

1998, Sylvia joined

Dennis as co-owner of the

Leier Construction Inc.

Dennis was a member of

the St. Boniface Catholic

Church, Harvey Eagles

Club and Knights of

Columbus. He enjoyed

hunting, ice fishing, soft-

ball and playing cards.

Dennis also liked watch-

ing the Minnesota Twins

and Minnesota Vikings,

but his most joy came

from watching his

grandchildren play sport-

ing events.

Dennis is survived by:

his daughters, Stacy (Bri-

an) Luehring, Sonya

(Reid) Skinner and Shan-

da (Corey) Leintz;

grandchildren, Brent (Em-

ilee) Luehring, Tyler

Luehring, Garrett and

Brenna Skinner, Jeremy

and Thomas Leintz;

great-grandson, Beckhem

Luehring; brothers, James,

Curtis (Bev) and Terry;

sisters, Patty, Dorothy,

Eunice (Louis), Karen and

Nancy (Jonathan);

brothers-in-law, James

(Dottie) Thompson, Curtis

(Joan) Thompson and

Byron (Sandy) Thompson;

sister-in-law, Gloria

(Lenis) Thompson; many

nieces and nephews.

Dennis is also survived by

special cousin and friend

Dwight (Penny) Leier and

special friends Matt

Knudsen and Kayla

Melaas.

He was preceded in

death by: his wife, Sylvia;

parents, Rochus and

Helen Leier;

parents-in-law, Ivan and

Betty Thompson; broth-

ers, Rochus Jr., Don

(Karen), Nick, Reuben,

Bob Sage and Lovey Leier.
