Sigrid Wassink

Sigrid Wassink, 82,

Minot, died suddenly on

June 26, 2016, in a Minot

hospital.

Sigrid was born on Au-

gust 18, 1933 in Freeport,

Illinois. She was adopted

at an early age by Dr. Gus-

tav and Lottie Angstrom.

She was reared and edu-

cated in Rockford, Illinois.

She continued her educa-

tion at Carroll College in

Waukesha, Wisconsin

where she met H. William

Wassink. Sigrid married

H. William Wassink on

August 20, 1953 in Rock-

ford. They made their

home in Clarksville, TN

while Bill was in the mili-

tary and in Chicago while

Bill attended Optometry

School. Following Bill’s

graduation from school

they lived in Olney, IL

and Manitowoc, WI for a

short time. The family

moved to Minot in 1961

when Bill became an op-

tometrist with Minot Eye,

Ear, Nose and Throat

Clinic. The family also

spent many summer days

at Lake Metigoshe from

1969-1996. More recently,

Sig and Bill had spent the

winter months in Arizona

from 1997-2008.

Sig was a member of

Cornerstone Presbyterian

Church and was an active

volunteer at Trinity Hos-

pital. She was passionate

about anything associated

with dogs, from dog

shows to training dogs.

Also, she enjoyed cook-

ing, traveling, watching

the birds at her feeders,

the Judge Judy television

program and tennis tour-

naments.

Sig’s loving family in-

years: Bill; children: Mark

Wassink (Julie) of

Brainerd MN, Jayne (Ter-

ry) Greuel of Minot, Ann

(Duane) Massine of Alli-

ance NE, Dirk (Jane) Was-

sink of Hastings MN and

Amy (Chris) Pokrzywinski

of Grand Forks; nine

grandchildren: Nate Was-

sink (Jennine), Tasha

(Bob) Henrikson, Max

(Erin) Greuel, Lee (Jen-

nifer) Greuel, Nicholas

and Tim Massine, Jessica

and Shelby Wassink and

Lilli Pokrzywinski; four

great-grandchildren:

Jazmynn and Addyson

Henrikson, Benson and Il-

lana Wassink;

sisters-in-law: Nola Liaros

and Karen (Doug) An-

drews.

Sigrid generously

donated her body to the

Life Legacy Foundation

for medical research.

Upon completion she will

be cremated.

in Cornerstone Presbyteri-an Church, Minot.

mother and homemaker

since she and her hus-

band, Dr. Bill Wassink, a

retired optometrist,

moved to Minot in 1961.

Also, she was an active

volunteer at Trinity Hos-

pital.

Sig’s loving family in-

Dirk and Amy Pokrzywin-ski.
