Boys Golf: Magicians land three on all-state team

Fresh off winning its first state title since 2003, the Minot High boys golf team had three members named to the Class A all-state team, released by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association on Wednesday, June 10.
Parker Argent, Easton Bradley and Tripp Toepfer were among the 12 golfers to be named to the all-state team. The Magicians and Grand Forks Red River represented half of the list, with both programs having three selections. Kolby Koerner, Silas Dusenbury and Stetsen Brown were all-state selections from the Red Raiders, who finished second at the state tournament via tiebreaker. Koerner won the individual state title with a 147.
Toepfer and Argent both finished in the top 10 at the state tournament. Toepfer placed third with a 151 and Parker Argent tied for ninth, carding a 157. Argent won the WDA Tournament title with a 2-under 70.
Argent finished tied with Bismarck St. Mary’s Brody Horner for the best adjusted averaged, which takes eight of the top nine scores during the regular season. Both averaged a 74.38. Horner was also named all-state.
Bradley had the fourth-best adjusted average with a 76.50 and Toepfer was sixth at 76.75.
Also named to the all-state team were Mandan’s Jacob Walch and Tyg Zenker, Fargo Davies’ Connor Peterson, Fargo South’s Dylan Rogne and Fargo Shanley’s Ryker Grinaker.
The all-state team was comprised of two seniors, four juniors, four sophomores, one eighth grader and one seventh grader.
Koerner was named the NDHSCA POWERade Outstanding Senior Athlete and West Fargo’s Ben Walker was named NDHSCA SUBWAY Coach of the Year.
Making the Class B all-state team was Rugby’s Lucas Wentz, who finished tied for seventh at the state tournament with a 143. The Panthers placed fourth as a team.
Individual state champion Myles Jorde of North Star was named the senior athlete of the year and North Star’s Barry Heisler was coach of the year.
Ten teams were represented on the 12-player list, with Bowman County being the only school to put multiple athletes on the team in Dylan Hedge and Zak Njos. Carter Paulus (Oak Grove), Kyle Campbell (Kindred), Jonathan Presteng (Grafton), Xavier Balkowitsch (Shiloh Christian), Ryder Moser (Langdon Area/Munich), Jackson Schumacher (New Rockford-Sheyenne), Tiger Lee (Westhope/Newburg) and Cody Rystedt (Powers Lake) rounded out the all-state team.
