Margy Strobeck
Margy Strobeck, 78,
Las Vegas, formerly of
Watford City and Stanley,
passed away peacefully at
home with her three chil-
dren by her side on Fri-
day, July 24, 2015.
Margy was born Aug.
21, 1936, in Watford City,
to Albert and Edna (Hen-
derson) Botner. She at-
tended country school
near the farm where she
grew up. She graduated
from Watford City High
School in 1954. Margy
had fond memories of her
high school friends, run-
ning around Watford City
in her storm coat and
white bucks, eating ham-
burgers at the bakery and
having her Uncle Hans
cut her hair at the barber
shop. All of her Botner
aunts, uncles and her
cousins lived nearby and
she enjoyed all of them.
She attended the Uni-
versity of North Dakota in
Grand Forks for one year
and was a member of the
Delta Delta Delta sorority.
Margy married Aldon
Strobeck in May 1956.
They lived in Stanley for
the early part of their
marriage and were
blessed with three chil-
dren: Karen, Steven and
Kristine. Over the years,
Marge was busy moving
where Al’s career took
them and raising their
children. They lived in
northern and southern
California, Nebraska and
Las Vegas, where the
children attended high
school. They always re-
turned to North Dakota
for holidays and sum-
mers on the farm.
In 1972, Marge and Al
purchased Margy’s step-
father’s (Bud Perry) ranch
outside of New Town and
she became actively in-
volved in managing that
ranch long distance and
in the summers. Later,
Marge spent 10 years
helping Kris run the Stro-
beck family farm near
Stanley. Marge was a
country girl at heart and
loved the wide open
spaces of North Dakota.
Margy’s greatest love in
life was family: her chil-
dren, her grandchildren
and her friends. She
wanted nothing more
than to give her time and
love to others. She en-
joyed just visiting and
drinking coffee with
friends, sharing family
holidays and making
lefse with her grandsons
and attending their
events. She would al-
ways go anywhere with
her family, from travel to
Norway (proud to be
Norwegian) with her
daughters and just going
on errands with Steve.
Margy is survived by:
her children, Karen Lind-
seth (Leif), Aurora, Ore.,
Steve Strobeck (Linda),
Las Vegas, and Kris Stro-
beck, Las Vegas. Margy is
also survived by her
three grandsons, Reed
and Logan Strobeck of
Las Vegas and Soren
Lindseth of Aurora.
Margy was preceded
in death by: her parents;
her brother, Sonny; and
her sister, Jean.
Her funeral service
will be: 2 p.m. Monday,
Aug. 3, at American Luth-
eran Church, Stanley.
Burial will follow at:
Fairview Cemetery, Stan-
ley.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to

an Funeral Home, Stan-
ley, and one hour prior to
