Rickie Dotson

Rickie Lee Dotson, 58, Glenburn and formerly of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Monday, May 11, 2015, on arrival at a Minot hospital.

Rickie was born March 24, 1957, in Dunlap, Tenn., to Sam Goldsten and Ethel Dotson. He was reared by his maternal grandparents, C.B. and Hazel Dotson, in Dunlap and attended Dunlap High School. As a young adult he began his lifelong career as a mechanic. Rickie married Debra Lynn Pierce Nov. 4, 1981, in Chattanooga. They made their home in Chattanooga where they were the parents of Rhonda, Rickey “Kirk,” Deanna and Donna. They divorced in August 1984.

Rickie married Karrie Davis Aug. 30, 1988, in Cando. They made their home in Cando and Apple Valley, Minn., prior to moving to Glenburn in 1996. They were the proud parents of Daryl, Taylor and Lowell. He retired due to ill health in 1993.

Rickie was a member of Misfit Motor Sports. In his free time he enjoyed working on cars, drag racing, motorcycle riding, camping with his family, mowing lawns and spending time with his grandchildren.

Rickie is survived by his loving family: wife of 26 years Karrie; children, Rhonda (Randal) Craig of Georgia, Rickey “Kirk” Dotson of Dayton, Tenn., Deanna (Gene) Ellis of Georgia, Donna Dotson of Dayton, Daryl (Jaime) Dotson of Glenburn, Taylor (Brooke) Dotson of Minot, Lowell Dotson of Glenburn; grandchildren, Devin, Cassie, Emila, Paige, Brodey, Chevelle; sisters, Tina Kendall of Kissimmee, Fla., Lisa Hargis of Jasper, Tenn., Annette Medford of Lewiston, N.C.; brothers, Sammy Pyburn, of Dunlap, and Charles Pyburn of Atlanta; in-laws, Lowell (Carol) Davis of Souris, Donald (Jo) Davis of Maxbass, Greg (Sandy) Davis of Glenburn, Carla (George) Hernandez of Albuquerque and Ella Davis (Keith Polling) of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rickie was preceded in death by: his grandparents; parents; sister, Deb Pyburn; brother, Michael Pyburn; and brother-in-law, Everett Davis.

Celebration of the Life of Rickie Dotson: 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenburn.

Interment arrangements: are pending.

Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. today, Thursday, May 14, at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
