Sylvia Stromstad

Sylvia A. Stromstad, 89, Minot, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at her daughter’s residence in Minot.

Sylvia was born April 14, 1925, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Thompson) Tieml. She was raised and educated in Winnipeg.

Sylvia was united in marriage to Walter I. Stromstad on June 30, 1950, in Winnipeg. The couple made their home on a farm located in Hamerly Township, Renville County, near Sherwood. They raised small grains until 1985 when they retired and moved to Minot.

In retirement Sylvia enjoyed volunteering at Trinity Hospital Gift Shop, Sons of Norway and also St. Joseph’s Hospital. Sylvia loved to read, being outside gardening and working in her flower beds.

Sylvia was a former member of the Hamerly Homemakers Club, Hamerly Lutheran Church and the Hamerly Lutheran Church Ladies Aide.

Survivors: daughters, Barbara (Dave) Stanley, Hillsboro, and Lorraine (Brad) Boschee, Minot; grandchildren, Dan Orth, Cheryl Ingerson, and Bradley Krueger; great-grandchildren, Alex, Abigail, and Autumn Ingerson, Morgan and Tristan Orth and Rylan, Gavin and Levi Krueger; and sisters, Alice Waters, Laura Pope and Jean Michaelis, all of British Columbia.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents, Charles and Pearl; and sisters, Norma Stewart and Margaret Timwell.

Funeral Service: Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will take place at 1:45 p.m. at Hamerly Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sherwood.
