Leonard Rath

Leonard LeRoy Rath, 72, Minot, formerly of Tuttle, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in his home.

Leonard was born April 24, 1941, in Steele, to Rueben and Albena (Scherbenske) Rath. He was raised and educated in Tuttle.

Leonard was united in marriage to Karen Borud on Nov. 27, 1983. They made their home on a farm north of Minot. Throughout the years, Leonard worked as a diesel mechanic for Cenex Transportation for more than 25 years. He retired in 2003 and went into ranching.

Leonard had many hobbies but especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycling and music. He was a chuck wagon chariot racer in Ruthville and Towner for many years.

His loving family includes: wife of 30 years, Karen; children, Tara Rath (Lynole), Hebron, Troy Rath, Bismarck, Todd (Sharon) Rath, McClusky, Tracy Rath, Minot, Tanja McMillan, Jamestown, David (Tammy) Carico, Berthold, and Dawn (Jason) Keelin, Huron, S.D., 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Shirley Rath, Bismarck.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Rath.

Funeral service: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.

Interment: Rolling Green Cemetery, Des Lacs.

Visitation: At the request of family there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign a register today, Aug. 15, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Are preferred to Trinity Hospice of Minot, Rolling Green Cemetery or Des Lacs Christmas In the Barn Fund.
