HHS prepares to implement Medicaid work requirements

BISMARCK – North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced it is preparing to implement several federally required changes to the state’s Medicaid program over the next two years, including work requirements for some Medicaid Expansion members. These new requirements are a result of the federal Working Families Tax Cut Act passed by Congress and signed into law on July 4, 2025. US HHS awards funds in ND

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the award of $4.67 million for initiatives across North Dakota to support Head Start, diabetes prevention and treatment and opioid response. Among the grants for diabetes prevention and treatment programs were $218,449 to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, $155,194 to the Three Affiliated Tribes and $135,604 to the Spirit Lake Tribe.

City studies new mosquito strategies

The City of Minot won’t get a second aerial spraying for mosquitoes this year, prompting the city to look at alternatives to controlling the biting population both this summer and into the future. Minot Mayor Mark Jantzer said the city typically asks Minot Air Force Base and the Ohio Air National Guard to conduct a second spraying later in the summer, depending on the cost and the degree of mosquitoes issues.
