Minot Class of 1966 to hold reunion

The Minot High School Class of 1966 will hold its 60th year reunion this weekend. Class members will meet Friday evening, Aug. 28, at the Clarion Hotel for a social and class pictures. Saturday’s activities include a bus tour of Minot North High School, former high school Central Middle School and other locations around the city, with a reception and dinner at the Clarion. The evening event will feature a remembrance ceremony for deceased classmates led by Gordon Olson and a Minot Memories presentation by Dave Lehner. Soggy Doggy Pool Paw-ty set for Sept. 7

Minot Parks will hold its Soggy Doggy Pool Paw-ty on Monday, Sept. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Roosevelt Park Pool. The event was originally expected to be moved to an earlier date due to the pool’s early seasonal closure. However, Minot Parks has decided to keep the event on Labor Day, allowing local dogs and their owners to enjoy one final splash before the summer comes to an end. Admission is free, and dogs are invited to enjoy the pool alongside their owners. Fedorchak Forum set for Sept. 1

Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak, R-ND, will host a Fedorchak Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. North Dakotans who want to participate in the conversatiom must sign up on Fedorchak’s website by noon on Sept. 1. Participants will receive a call from Minto at the start of the event, inviting them to participate. City responds to water main break

A City of Minot water crew responded to a water main break Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Skyline Drive. The city estimated services were impacted to 8-12 homes.

Council holds closed session on confidential case

The Minot City Council met in executive session Wednesday, Aug. 26, to discuss a police department case in which confidential records are involved. In open session, the council was told the case is of a sensitive nature because it involves a mental health committal and an open and active criminal investigation. City Manager Tom Joyce said there is an ongoing investigation process related to proposed disciplinary action against six officers, and he believes the council should be kept abreast of that process even though confidentiality issues are involved. FCC commissioner views critical infrastructure in Minot

Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Olivia Trusty and Senior Legal Advisor Marcus Maher visited Minot on Aug. 13 to tour critical communications systems and engage in a roundtable discussion with Minot area leaders, according to SRT information. SRT CEO/General Manager Cassidy Hjelmstad, Trusty and Maher toured Minot Air Force Base with officials there before touring SRT's facilities to get a full picture of the broadband provider and the communities it serves.
