Area towns receive water project loans
BISMARCK – Kenmare and New Town are among communities recently awarded loans from the State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, jointly administered by the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the North Dakota Public Finance Authority.
Kenmare received a $2.4 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan to rehabilitate sanitary sewer main using cured in place pipelining and replace main where necessary. The manholes also will be rehabilitated or replaced where necessary.
New Town was awarded a $1 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan to replace the existing storage reservoir with an elevated storage tank on the same site. The elevated tank will boost system pressures throughout the south pressure zone and improve water service for its citizens.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF programs’ funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. SRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.
