Suicide prevention workshop equips faith communities
INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation has teamed up with the N.D. Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, AFSP, to provide free admission to the May 7 workshop, “Equipping Faith Communities to Minister to those Impacted by Suicide.”
The workshop addresses the primary obstacles to dealing with suicide, such as stigma, fear and shame; statistics/facts about suicide; and how communities can create a supportive environment while shifting the culture around how people deal with this subject and one another. The target audience for this one-day workshop is pastors, ministers, clergy and counselors, lay ministry leaders, first responders and essentially anyone interested in learning how to effectively minister to those impacted by suicide. Continuing Education credits are available for this workshop.
The workshop includes training materials, breakfast, lunch and snacks.
Registration is free with the code Inspiritus. For more information about the workshop or registering, contact Barb Hanson, N.D. Chapter AFSP, 238-7739, Barbarahanson2309@gmail.com.
