Drivers injured in two-vehicle crash near Powers Lake

POWERS LAKE – The driver of a semi and the driver of a pickup were injured when their vehicles crashed on N.D. Highway 50, west of Powers Lake, Saturday, Jan. 31.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at 6:15 p.m., the 2007 Kenworth semi, driven by a 54-year-old Idaho man, was traveling westbound on Highway 50, west of Powers Lake. A 1998 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 56-year-old Powers Lake man, was traveling eastbound, lost control on the icy road and crossed into the westbound lane. The semi struck the pickup in a T-bone style collision on the passenger side of the pickup.

The driver of the semi was not wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to a Tioga medical center for treatment.

The driver of the pickup was not wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Minot hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
