Residents in northwest Minot were temporarily evacuated Tuesday, Jan. 6, due to a natural gas leak, according to the Minot Fire Department.

The department reported crews were dispatched Tuesday morning to the area of University Avenue and 10th Street Northwest for reports of a gas odor. With assistance from Montana-Dakota Utilities, the source of the natural gas leak was located. Out of an abundance of caution, nearby residents were asked to temporarily evacuate while the situation was addressed.

MDU repaired the leak, and traffic was restored on University Avenue later in the day, the department reported.
