2025 brought temps, moisture above long-term averages

For the year 2025, the average temperature was 41 degrees which is 1.3 degrees above the 117-year, long-term average of 39.7 degrees, according to Austin Kraklau of the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

He said the lowest temperature of 2025 was -32 degrees which occurred on both Feb. 18 and 19.. The high was 98 degrees on July 10.

The total moisture for the year was 20.35 inches which is 3.20 inches above the long- term average of 17.15 inches, Kraklau said.

This past month of December had an average temperature of 12 degrees which was 1.6 degrees below the 117-year, long-term average of 13.6 degrees, Kraklau said.

He said the lowest temperature of the month was -17 degrees on Dec. 7 and the high was 45 degrees on Dec. 16.

The total moisture for the month was .71 inch which is .10 inch above the long-term average of .61 inch, according to Kraklau.

He said the total snowfall for the month was 5.4 inches which is 1.8 inches below the long-term average of 7.2 inches.
