Submitted Photo This photo is a closeup of the explosion and fire at a tank battery site, about 15 miles east of Watford City, that occurred Monday, Dec. 29, about 11 p.m. Select Water Solutions LLC reported to state officials 4,000 barrels of produced water, a by-product of oil and gas development, was released onto the location from the fire. Local emergency responders responded to the incident. As of Wednesday morning, Dec. 31, McKenzie County officials were not aware of any injuries. N.D. Highway 23 in the area of the explosion and fire was closed for a time. It reopened Tuesday, Dec. 30, about 5:15 p.m., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
