Source water spill occurs near Newburg

NEWBURG – A source water spill from a pipeline release occurred Wednesday, Dec. 17, about five miles northwest of Newburg and impacted crop land.

Cobra Oil and Gas Corporation notified the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) about the incident, according to NDDEQ information.

Source water is water from an underground formation with elevated levels of total dissolved solids. Source water and injection wells are used for enhanced oil recovery.

Cobra Oil and Gas Corporation reported about 6,300 gallons of source water were released from a tank.

Personnel from the NDDEQ have inspected the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
