Alzheimer’s Association to offer November presentations
BISMARCK – The Alzheimer’s Association will offer a free virtual presentation, “The Empowered Caregiver: Communicating Effectively,” on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 2-3 p.m.
This class is designed to increase caregiver confidence while reducing stress, offering helpful ways to approach the responsibilities of caring for someone living with dementia using a person-centered approach. It teaches how dementia affects communication, including tips for communicating well with family, friends and health care professionals.
The Alzheimer’s Association, together with North Dakota State University Extension, will offer a free virtual presentation titled “The Gift of Self-Care: Supporting Mind and Body Through the Holidays” also on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from noon-p.m.
Caregiving for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias can surface stress that takes a toll on the person’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The class teaches how committing to giving yourself time and space to take care of your needs can not only benefit your health but also the well-being of the individual in your care.
To register for either of the presentations contact the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-Dakota Chapter. This project is funded through the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, Adult & Aging Services Section.
