Submitted Photo The Minot Elks Lodge #1089 recently utilized a Spotlight Grant to support the local Families in Transition Program, which supports families who are homeless. Harriet Summers, Families in Transition program director, left, and Carolyn Bodell, Minot Elks secretary, right, show some of the backpacks donated. The lodge purchased 100 $10 gas cards and 54 backpacks. The gas cards allow parents to bring their children to school and to be able to drive to work or training programs. The backpacks help these children feel like their peers by being able to bring their supplies, outerwear and other items to and from school the way other children do.
