Challenge offered to encourage financial literacy

BISMARCK – During the month of October, the State of North Dakota is encouraging North Dakotans to discover their unique money personalities on Smart with My Money.

The October Money Personality Challenge is meant to inspire residents to take action toward becoming financially literate and to raise awareness of a free resource.

Residents statewide can participate in the challenge by creating a free account with the Smart With My Money program through the Bank of North Dakota. They will complete a financial checkup and take the Money Personality Quiz to receive personalized learning recommendations based on their answers.

“North Dakotans scored a C in financial literacy, according to the most recent study by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA),” said Bank of North Dakota (BND) President and CEO Don Morgan in a news release. “BND is committed to helping the state become the most financially literate in the nation. Our leaders and employees will be participating in the challenge to raise awareness and promote a helpful resource.”

The “Smart with My Money” effort was announced in April 2024, with a goal to make North Dakota the most financially literate state by 2027.

North Dakota high schools, colleges, businesses or other organizations interested in joining the effort may contact Lance Hill at lrhill@nd.gov for information.

Starting at $2.99/week.
