Roosevelt Park to close for season Sept. 8
Roosevelt Park will close for the season on Monday, Sept. 8. The pickleball courts and park entrance will not be open to the public as of Sept. 8.
The decision to close is being made for the safety of residents and providing the flood control project team to move forward to meet deadlines for the overall project completion, according to the Souris River Joint Board.
The MI-7-Roosevelt Park and Zoo phase of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project continues construction into the fall.
Progress has been made on the project in the past four months, the SRJB stated in a news release. The work has included utilities, placing levees, pouring flood wall footings and placing many of the flood wall panels in the park and zoo despite a wet spring and summer.
To make sure all fall work is completed before winter, it is best to have less pedestrian and car traffic in the park so crews can move forward with finishing larger construction projects for the season and other items which need to be moved within the park to reset for the next phases of construction.
