American Legion posts to gather for fall meeting
Members of North Dakota’s American Legion Posts of the 6th and 9th Districts and their Auxiliary members will gather in Minot at the Moose Lodge for their 2025 Fall District Meeting on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. The social will start at 11 a.m. and a meal will be served at noon.
Following the meeting, free bowling will be provided at North Hill Bowl.
Scot Post, West Region vice commander, will preside over the session, along with District 6 Commander Kathryn White Bear of White Shield Post 253 and District 9 Commander Doug Eckert of Powers Lake Post 96. Department Commander Michael Weyrauch, Ray Post 9, and other department officers also will be in attendance.
Members will receive reports on the upcoming district oratorical contest and the American Legion North Dakota Boys State held this past June at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. Those present will receive information on membership campaigns on the department and national level aimed at keeping the American Legion the largest veterans’ organization. Representatives of the district posts will be asked to make a 2026 membership turn-in during the post roll call.
The North Dakota Department of the American Legion encompasses more than 10,000 Legionnaires, 6,000 Auxiliary and 1,000 Sons of the American Legion throughout posts in 206 North Dakota communities. Chartered by Congress in 1919, the Legion serves as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans’ organization. It upholds the four pillars of Legion service – Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism and Children and Youth. Department headquarters is located in West Fargo.
