New Town man dies in dirt bike crash

NEW TOWN – A 23-year-old New Town man died and a 19-year-old Parshall man was injured when the dirt bike they were riding crashed west of New Town Wednesday, Aug. 13.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at 3:26 p.m., the 2013 KTM 250SXF dirt bike, driven by the New Town man, was traveling south on Peninsula Road in the 4 Bears Marina area when it failed to maintain a curve in the road. The bike went off the road and struck a fence along the side of the road. The driver and passenger, the Parshall man, were ejected from the dirt bike. The driver died at the scene and the passenger was transported by ambulance to a Minot hospital.

The driver was wearing a helmet and the passenger was not wearing a helmet, according to the Highway Patrol. Their names have not been released at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
