Minot receives loan for lead line projects
The City of Minot has been awarded a $29.6 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan to identify the material of about 8,000 unknown water service lines and begin replacing known lead service lines, according to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality. This project will reduce a potential lead source in drinking water.
State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, jointly administered by NDDEQ and the North Dakota Public Finance Authority, also were awarded to Grand Forks for storm sewer infrastructure and Jamestown and Cando to replace cast-iron water mains.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
