White Shield’s early celebration filled with fun

WHITE SHIELD – White Shield continued its tradition of celebrating the Fourth of July on July 1 this year, allowing staffers to then celebrate the actual holiday with their loved ones.

There were chilli, frybread and posole contests, along with a three-legged race, sponge race, flag football, cornhole, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, a large tent for shade and indoor bingo for elders.Fire department and emergency personnel were on hand, watching for overheated folks and providing electrolytes, water towels and cold water. Paramedics had a water mister to help people cool down.

Visitors received free T-shirts, cups and battery-operated fans. Door prizes included a 4-wheel quad bike.
