Pedestrian struck by vehicle in southwest Minot
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 31st Avenue Southwest and 16th Street Southwest about 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Units from the Minot Police Department, Minot Fire Department and Trinity First Response responded to the incident.
According to Minot Police information, preliminary investigation revealed that a 92-year-old Minot man was walking eastbound in the crosswalk across 16th Street Southwest when he was struck by a small SUV. The driver, Jean Marie Nelson, 81, Stanley, was traveling west on 31st Avenue Southwest and attempting to turn south onto 16th Street when she failed to yield to the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pushed about 30 feet and sustained head and other injuries. He was transported to a Minot hospital and is currently being treated for serious injuries.
Nelson was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The incident remains under investigation to determine if additional charges will be filed.
