Truck pull in Minot for Special Olympics ND
Special Olympics North Dakota (SOND) invites the public to “Test Your Strength” at the LETR Truck Pull in Minot and show their support for SOND.
This year’s event is Friday at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds on the Midway. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. The LETR Truck Pull begins at 6:30 p.m.
“The LETR Truck Pull is a fun opportunity to support local Special Olympics athletes and bring the community together,” said Nancy Hanson, president/CEO of SOND. “If you are unable to participate in the LETR Truck Pull, we welcome you to still come out and show your support.”
This year SOND has added a food truck, a bouncy house, bake sale and a ticket drawing.
Pullers can participate as a team of friends, co-workers or classmates. Each team must raise a minimum of $500 ($50 per person) to “pull the bearcat” and the “fire truck.” Pullers also may be able to compete for prizes for fastest pull, most money raised by a law enforcement team, most money raised by a team and most money raised by an individual.
The LETR Truck Pull in Minot is organized by community volunteers and local law enforcement who participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics as “Guardians of the Flame.” These events, along with similar events in communities across the state, help support the more than 1,000 people served by SOND, who train and compete year-round in 11 Olympic-type sports.
Visit the Special Olympics North Dakota website or call 746-0331 for more information or to register. People may register the day of the event. Volunteer opportunities also are available.
