Sentenced for fentanyl-related felony

A Plaza woman has been sentenced to serve a year and half with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after pleading guilty to one count of possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, a Class A felony.

Faith Anne Almond, 28, Plaza, was sentenced after entering a change of plea to guilty in North Central District Court on Wednesday. Almond pleaded guilty to the fentanyl possession charge, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of controlled substance-methamphetamine and refusal to halt.

According to the declaration of probable cause, Almond was arrested as a passenger during a traffic stop by the Ward County sheriff on Feb. 9. The vehicle was pulled over for failure to display a front license plate. A search located fentanyl, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Judge Douglas Mattson sentenced Almond to serve six years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the fentanyl charge, with all but 18 months suspended and credit for 125 days already served. Almond was ordered to complete three years of supervised probation, and to complete a chemical dependency evaluation.

Almond was also ordered to pay court fines and fees of $1,250 for all three counts.

Starting at $2.99/week.
