Police arrest suspect for exposing infant to drugs
A 26-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday following a drug exposure investigation involving an infant.
Arrested was George Ralph Odom, Minot.
According to Minot Police, on June 19, the Minot Police Department was contacted by Ward County Child Protective Services (CPS) regarding a 4-month-old child who tested positive for methamphetamine following a hair follicle test. The test was requested after a traffic stop conducted by the Williams County Sheriff’s Department, during which methamphetamine and paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle. The child was present during the traffic stop and was immediately placed into CPS custody.
Minot Police investigators interviewed both parents. During questioning, Odom, the child’s father, admitted to using methamphetamine inside their Minot home and vehicle while the child was present.
On Tuesday, an arrest warrant was issued for Odom for endangerment of a child or vulnerable adult, a Class C felony.
On Wednesday, officers located Odom in a parking lot in southeast Minot. When approached, Odom fled on foot but was apprehended shortly after and taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Ward County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
