NDCF awards statewide grants in 2024
BISMARCK — The North Dakota Community Foundation (NDCF) has announced it awarded more than $12.9 million in grants and charitable program expenses in 2024.
In northwest North Dakota, several area communities have their own local foundations under the NDCF umbrella, including:
– Minot Community Endowment Fund, established in 1981, with assets of more than $1.87 million at the end of 2024, which includes assets of the T.A. & Anna Solheim Endowment Fund and the Charles & Madge Westlie Endowment Fund. It has awarded 600 grants since its inception, totaling more than $1.46 million.
– Westhope Area Community Foundation, established in 1996, with assets of $83,011 at the end of 2024. The fund has awarded 15 grants totaling more than $21,000 since its inception.
– Mohall Area Community Foundation, established in 2007, with assets at the end of 2024 of $155,166. The fund has made 34 grants totaling more than $29,000.
– Sherwood/Antler Community Foundation, established in 2010 and held more than $111,000 in assets at the end of 2024. It has awarded 23 grants totaling more than $9,000.
– Kenmare Area Community Foundation, established in 2009, with assets of $254,436 at the end of 2024. The fund has awarded 94 grants totaling more than $87,000.
– Powers Lake Community Foundation, established in 2019 and finished 2024 with $187,942 in total assets. It has awarded eight grants since its inception, totaling $5,934.
– Tioga Community Foundation, established in 2001, with assets at the end of 2024 of $623,930. It has awarded 76 grants since its inception, totaling more than $86,000.
– Stanley Area Community Foundation, established in 2008 and had assets at the end of 2024 of $2.8 million. The fund has made 98 grants to date, totaling more than $716,707.
– McKenzie County Community Foundation, established in 2010, with $765,874 in assets at the end of 2024. It has awarded 72 grants totaling more than $140,994.
– Parshall Area Community Foundation, established in 2011, with assets of $362,471 at the end of 2024. The fund has awarded 55 grants totaling more than $109,923.
– Williston Area Community Foundation, established in late 2014 and has assets of $99,010. The fund, in conjunction with the Christensen Family Charitable Fund, has awarded 13 grants totaling more than $21,839.
Each of NDCF’s community endowment funds is led by a local advisory committee of volunteers who spearhead fundraising efforts and recommend annual grant distributions. All contributions to these community endowment funds are tax-deductible.
NDCF ended 2024 with $160 million in total assets. Most of these assets are held in endowment funds that provide permanent, long-term grant dollars to North Dakota communities, schools, and nonprofits.
Founded in 1976, NDCF manages more than 1,000 charitable funds, including 69 local community foundations across the state and more than 200 scholarship funds for North Dakota students. The foundation also administers organizational endowment funds, donor-advised funds, school foundations and special interest funds that benefit individuals and nonprofit organizations statewide.
Since its founding, NDCF has awarded more than $121 million in grants and charitable program expenses. The foundation operates offices in Bismarck, Larimore, Dickinson and Wahpeton.
